Imam Ibn Hajar al- 'Asqalani

Imam Ibn Hajar was widely known for his photographic memory which made him an eminent scholar in the science of hadith especially when it comes to issues of contesting and amendment of the hadith narrators. Also his exceptional commentaries on the authentic hadith of Imam al Bukhari crowned him as a pioneer in this field. He was widely loved and an honorable scholar. When he died, more than 50,000 people attended his funeral. He lived and died in Egypt.

Imam Galal al- Din al- Suyuti

Imam al- Suyuti was a prolific author, eminent hadith scholar and a remarkable historian. He was known as the son of books because he was born in the library as his mother was fetching a book when the pain of labor overtook her. He worked as a librarian in one of the biggest libraries of the world at the time which gave him a rare opportunity for reading. He authored more than 300 books by the age of 40. By the time of his death, the number reached 700 books.

She gained a vast amount of knowledge due to her marriage to the Prophet. She narrated a lot of the prophetic traditions that were transmitted down to us today and was an eminent scholar of jurisprudence and practiced ijtihad or independent legal reasoning. Her sharp intellectual discernment and vast religious scholarship crowned her as a pioneer scholar who the companions referred to regularly to settle their arguments over juristic issues and prophetic traditions.

Imam Abu Hanifa

Imam Abu Hanifah was of a Persian descent. He was an outstanding scholar of jurisprudence and the founder of the first school of jurisprudence. Three quarters of all sunnis follow the Hanafi school of jurisprudence. Imam al Shafi'i said that all jurists owe their knowledge of Jurisprudence to Abu Hanifah as he had the precedence in writing down this knowledge with its legal maxims. He was a taciturn man by nature yet when he was asked about jurisprudence, words would flow eloquently from him. He was a leading scholar of analogy and mastered how to draw legal rulings by using analogical tools. he issued edicts on 83,000 juristic issues and died in the year 150 A.H.

Imam Malik Ibn Anas

Imam Malik ibn Anas was the Imam of all times as more than seventy scholars of Medina testified to his strong hold in religious scholarship. He founded the second school of legal jurisprudence and used to teach jurisprudence and hadith sciences in the mosque of the Prophet in Medina. He was a luminary scholar who was meticulous about the hadiths he transmitted as he used to apply strict measures to validate the authenticity of hadith.

Imam Ahmed Ibn Hanbal

Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal was fortunate as he was raised in Baghdad at its golden age where arts and sciences were thriving. He had a keen interest in learning Islamic sciences and had the intellectual discernment to pursue knowledge. He had encountered many erudite scholars who enriched his intellectual pursuit and sharpened his intellect. He followed a meticulous methodology in accepting the transmission of prophetic traditions and was known for it.

Shaykh Dr Ali Gomaa

Shaykh Ali Gomaa is the former Grand Mufti of the Arab Republic of Egypt. He is one of the foremost Islamic scholars in the world. Despite retiring from the post of Grand Mufti of Egypt in 2013, Gomaa has remained active on many fronts and his counsel is more in demand than ever before.

Shaykh Ali's scholarly influence is derived from his position at the centre of many of the most significant institutions of Islamic law in the world. Before becoming Grand Mufti, Shaykh Ali was a professor of jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University—the second oldest university in the world, founded in 975 CE. Shaykh Ali also served as a member of the Fatwa Council. He is currently a member of the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, the highest institute of Islamic law in the Organization of the Islamic Conference—an intergovernmental organization for Muslim-majority countries. Shaykh Ali has authored over 50 books, as well as hundreds of articles.
